Union Estimating was founded by a former contractor and estimator who watched good GCs lose bids — not because their price was wrong, but because their numbers were.
How it started
Where it started
Before Union Estimating existed, our founder spent years in the field — managing projects, chasing subcontractors, and submitting bids. The estimating process was always the weak link. Takeoffs were rushed, numbers were guessed, and the margin for error was enormous.
He watched capable general contractors lose contracts they should have won. Not because their crews weren't skilled or their pricing wasn't competitive — but because the estimate behind the bid was inaccurate, incomplete, or delivered too late to matter.
That frustration became the foundation of Union Estimating LLC, established in 2020 with one clear mission: give every contractor — from a two-person sub to a national GC — access to the same level of estimating precision that the largest firms take for granted.
